We’ve kept this short on purpose. You buy Maali once and own it forever; it runs on your own computer, updates are included, and nothing recurs. So the terms can afford to be simple.

The 30-day trial

Maali is free to use in full for 30 days: every feature, on your own real data. The trial starts the first time you import your transactions (not the moment you download), so the clock only runs once you’re actually using it. As with everything in Maali, nothing leaves your computer during the trial: not your accounts, transactions, or reports.

When the trial ends

If you haven’t bought a license by day 30, Maali becomes read-only. Your data is never locked away from you: you can still open the app, browse everything, export all of it, or delete it. What pauses is changing things, so importing new transactions, syncing accounts, and running new analysis wait until you activate a license. Pasting a license key unlocks everything again instantly, and like your data, that key is checked right on your computer, never sent to us.

What you’re buying

  • Buy once, no subscription. Your $99 is a one-time purchase. There is no expiry and no subscription: Maali has no server to check in with, so the copy on your computer keeps working whether or not we’re around. Your data stays as ordinary files on your own machine.
  • Updates are included. Your license covers every update we ship to Maali, at no extra charge: no update plan, no renewal, nothing more to buy. If someday we build a fundamentally new paid product, buying it would be entirely optional.

Refunds

14 days, no questions asked. The 30-day trial means you’ll know whether Maali is for you well before you pay, but if you still change your mind, email support@maali.app within 14 days of purchase and we’ll refund you in full, no reason needed. Since your data never left your computer, there’s nothing to delete on our end. Your files stay on your own computer until you remove them, and Maali ships an uninstaller that will clear them out for you whenever you want.

Maali is made by Maali Labs LLC. Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, who act as the seller of record and take care of the payment and any sales tax — which is why their name appears alongside Maali’s on your card statement. Your license

One license covers your household: you and the people you live with, on the computers in your home. You don’t need to count Macs or buy seats. Please don’t share your license outside your household or resell it.

The honest fine print

  • Provided as-is. We work hard to make Maali accurate and reliable, but like all software it’s provided without warranties, and we can’t accept liability for decisions made using it. Check important numbers against your bank’s own records.
  • Not financial advice. Maali organizes and describes your own data, including with AI-written summaries. It isn’t a financial adviser, and nothing it shows or writes is investment, tax, or legal advice.
  • What “forever” can and can’t mean. Your licence lives on your computer and never expires; there’s no activation server it has to check in with, so the version you have keeps working. What nobody can promise is that a future version of macOS or Windows will still run today’s build — that part is Apple’s and Microsoft’s call, not ours.
  • Your data, your responsibility, your benefit. Because everything lives on your computer, we never hold your data, which also means we can’t recover it for you. Download a restorable backup from Settings, keep it somewhere safe, and use a backup system for your whole computer (Time Machine on a Mac, File History on Windows).
